You want to be financial free from debt because it weighs a person down. You don't want to stress or anything to stop you moving ahead in life. By putting together a budget and sticking to it. Help you have exta money in she short and long term goal. Financially Freedom is in wisdom of God asking Him for guidance in your financial and everything else

If you go to New York don't stay. The rent, the travel across town isnt worth it. You need have extra money set aside. If anything you can come to Chicago or Chicagoland (suburbs) rent not expensive as New York. In the suburbs outside of Chicago the rent is decent and affordable and nearby everything. Different ways getting around town, food selections, shopping, etc.. malls ,stores, etc..

I don't have a whole guide when I moved to NYC, but I first had a job secured. From there, I contacted friends and family that were also living there and linked up with them. They gave me advice about good areas, safety, etc. If you are looking for a 1-year lease and need time to apartment hunt, you can rent through Airbnb in the Brooklyn area for 1 - 1.5k per month to give you breathing room. As far as making friends/community, definitely look into joining clubs, sports teams, etc. There is something happening every night in NYC, but you need to find your herd of people, or it can be lonely just like any other place.
